Scholarship Recommendation Letter

Innumerable scholarships are introduced and awarded to individuals every now and then. The basic aim of these scholarships is to encourage, support and facilitate students to get or complete education. Those individuals who want to get higher education or want to complete their college education, but are unable to afford the high fees, can apply for a scholarship. In addition, students who are outstanding in their academic career can also win scholarships to complete their higher education in prestigious schools, colleges and universities. The biggest advantage of a scholarship is that it is likely to be beneficial to any student in their professional career for several years.

Since there are a large number of scholarship applicants, therefore scholarship recommendation letters hold considerable weight in the selection process. Generally, scholarship granting bodies look for applicants who are outstanding and are capable enough to make an impact in future. This is the reason why a scholarship recommendation letter is so important for any student as he or she heavily relies on it in hoping of standing out from the crowd.

Writing a scholarship recommendation letter for an individual is a huge responsibility because your letter might play a major role in determining whether this person wins a scholarship and fulfills his or her dreams. Because of this reason, it is important to write a strong and influential scholarship recommendation letter. All you need to do is to follow a few guidelines just to make sure that you have an effective and properly formatted recommendation letter.

Start the letter with the standard title, i.e. “To Whom It May Concern”. Then write the name of the student you are recommending in the very first line. Then, write briefly about how long you have known him or her and in what context.

A scholarship recommendation letter can be written for a coworker or employee who wants to attend college or wants to go back to college. For this letter, you need to provide necessary information on work ethic, character traits, and capability of functioning as a team player. However, if you are writing a letter for a student then you should provide information about your personal experience with him or her in an academic setting. It would be better to include any particular assignments or projects that the student stood out in.

Remember that the key to write a strong scholarship recommendation letter is to be specific and do not add irrelevant information. Explain briefly that why you think that their educational institution is a good fit for this student, and how he or she might grow from this experience. After completing the letter, make sure to proofread it for spelling, formatting or grammar mistakes because they may ruin all of your effort, despite having high quality content in the letter.

In short, keep your letter simple, straightforward, and to the point. Refrain from adding negative remarks or unnecessary details. By following these guidelines, it will become simpler and easier for you to write a strong scholarship recommendation letter.
